Sitka, Kentucky (March 30, 2015) 201 Speedway officials are anxiously awaiting the start of the 2015 racing season, which is just a few short days away.
The Old Man’s Garage Spring Nationals Series presented by Schaeffer’s Oil returns to 201 Speedway on Thursday night, April 2nd for the 2nd Annual Johnny Salyer Memorial. The $4,000 to win event marks the third-ever visit to the eastern Kentucky oval by the Ray Cook promoted miniseries. Joining the Spring Nationals Series Super Late Models on April 2nd will be Open Wheel Modifieds and Bombers, both competing in a regular weekly racing program.
The series’ stop at 201 Speedway kicks off a tripleheader weekend in the Bluegrass State. From there the tour heads to Ponderosa Speedway in Junction City, Kentucky on Friday night for a $4,000 to win event; closing out the weekend on Saturday night at Florence Speedway in Union, Kentucky with the 39th Annual Spring 50 paying $5,000 to win.
Eddie Carrier Jr. of Salt Rock, West Virginia won a thrilling event during the series’ first visit to the Speedway in 2013 while Brandon Kinzer of Allen, Kentucky went to victory lane in 2014.
The Johnny Salyer Memorial is contested annually in memory of long-time track employee and track prep specialist Johnny Salyer who devoted over 20 years of his life to working at 201 Speedway. Salyer lost his battle with cancer on Christmas Day 2013.

Activities on April 2nd will see all gates opening at 3:00pm with a mandatory drivers meeting at 6:30pm followed by hot laps shortly after. General admission is $20, a pit pass will go for $35, with kids 10 and under admitted FREE.
